On staff, we have former Secret Service and State Revenue Agents, former State Fraud Investigator/Director, and Hi-tech Computer Investigators, along with security consultants from almost every field of expertise. But, as good as we are, we recognize that in some situations there are some shortcomings due to the physical limitation of humans. As dedicated and observant as our personnel are, they are limited to seeing only what is in their immediate area. While patrolling one side of a building they cannot, simultaneously, observe the other sides. On-site personnel are also subject to assault and can be deliberately distracted by those intending to commit theft or vandalism.

A person on-site does have some advantages. One, it tends to deter vandalism and criminal activity by their very presence, and two, there is a human on-site and trained to make a decision as the activity is happening.

The main purpose of security is to prevent incidents, the secondary purpose is to provide information for the eventual prosecution of those involved in thefts or vandalism. In the event of an incident, we only have the memory of the guard to relate all details, and we all know the limitations of memories. In the excitement of an incident, the guard may miss seeing some vital information required to prosecute the perpetrators.

Some of these shortcomings have been overcome with technology. On-site cameras have become common, but up to now their applications have left much to be desired. At many sites, the cameras sit, watch, and record all that is going on like a mindless robot. With no one trained to observe the activity taking place, the value is limited to providing an “after the fact” video image of the activity.

We have all seen these videos on the evening news and “cops and robbers” TV shows. Because of the poor quality of these cheap (but not inexpensive) black and white videos, most videos are useless for positive identification. Parker Security & Investigative Services, Inc. has developed a way to overcome all these short-comings and provide better security at a lower cost per hour. Remember our motto: “we protect your business….to protect our business”. We mean exactly that! Toward that end, we present the Parker Advanced Monitored Electronic Surveillance (PAMES).

With PAMES, we install two or more high-resolution color CCTV cameras on-site. These cameras send conventional video images over high-speed lines to our PAMES Control Center, where highly trained security personnel can watch your entire business. All sides, all areas, all of the time, simultaneously! Each individual cameral can be programmed to sound an alarm whenever it detects any movement in its area of responsibility, alerting security personnel to be extra watchful. These security personnel, who are in the PAMES Control Center safely out of harm’s way, now have several options. If the motion is simply an animal or other harmless activity, it is documented and ignored.

If it is more serious, such as someone committing a crime, security personnel can control the camera from the PAMES Control Center and “zoom” the camera in for a close-up of those involved. Meanwhile, the activity of all the cameras is being recorded. There are no blind spots. Each frame has the identity of the camera, the date and the time. Because of the high resolution of these cameras, we have a clear image of all that transpired. It is relatively easy to identify persons for investigators, insurance adjusters, and juries.

The PAMES officer has other options as well. They can notify emergency personnel if needed; call the local Police or Fire Department; and by two-way communication, notify the PAMES Roving Shift Supervisor, who often arrives before the Police. In addition to PAMES, our Roving PAMES Supervisor continuously visits our job sites throughout their shift. This Supervisor has immediate contact with the PAMES Control Center.
